👩‍🍳 Avocado Oil Mayonnaise In Seconds

If you’ve ever picked up a jar of Kraft Avocado Oil Mayonnaise or another “healthier” mayo at the store, you might have noticed something a little sneaky on the label. I did the same thing, tossing it in my cart thinking I was making a better choice. Then I actually read the ingredients.

Even the so-called avocado oil mayonnaise is often blended with cheap seed oils to cut costs, but the price tag is still higher. That tiny word “with” avocado oil on the label? That’s when it clicked for me.

So I pulled out my old Joy of Cooking cookbook and had a lightbulb moment. Why not just make my own homemade avocado oil mayo? It turned out to be way easier than I expected, and it tastes fresh and creamy without any mystery ingredients. Just real, simple food you can trust.

A lot of mayonnaise recipes make it sound complicated. They tell you to whisk the egg, lemon juice, and vinegar first, then carefully drizzle in the oil drop by drop. I tried it that way and honestly it felt more like a science experiment. My favorite method skips all that. I just put everything in one jar, grab my immersion blender, and in less than a minute I’ve got smooth, thick, homemade avocado oil mayonnaise ready to go.

It’s simple, it’s reliable, and it makes you wonder why you ever bothered with store-bought mayo in the first place.

🛒 Avocado Oil Mayonnaise Ingredient List

  • Avocado Oil: Use a good quality oil that doesn’t have water as a filler or the mayo will end up runnier than you want. I order mine off Amazon. You could try olive oil, but fair warning, it’s a bit stronger in taste, and I wasn’t a huge fan.
  • Egg
  • Lemon Juice: I used fresh lemons for that bright, zesty flavor, but bottled works if you’re in a pinch.
  • Dijon Mustard: This adds a little tang and depth to the mayo, giving it that classic flavor we all love.
  • White Wine Vinegar: I have made mayo with and without White Wine Vinegar and I think it makes a difference so don’t skip it.
  • Little Bit of Sea Salt

🥣 Making Avocado Oil Mayonnaise at Home: Step-by-Step

  1. Grab your immersion blender (or a regular blender if that’s what you’ve got).
  2. Throw in an egg, a splash of lemon juice, white wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, a pinch of sea salt and a cup of avocado oil.
  3. Blend it all up until it’s thick and creamy. That’s it! You’ve got homemade mayonnaise that blows store-bought out of the water.

Customization Ideas

Once you’ve got your base, you can mix in all kinds of extras to make it uniquely yours.

Garlic Aioli
Stir in a little minced garlic or garlic powder with an extra squeeze of lemon juice. It’s bold, zesty, and perfect for dipping fries or spreading on sandwiches.

Herb Mayo
Mix in fresh parsley, dill, or cilantro for a bright herby flavor. This one is especially good on roasted veggies, wraps, or a simple turkey sandwich.

Spicy Mayo
Add a spoonful of Sriracha, a splash of hot sauce, or even a pinch of cayenne. You’ll get a creamy spread with just the right amount of kick.

Lemon Herb Mayo
Grate in some lemon zest and stir in chopped fresh herbs. The citrusy flavor works so well with fish, grilled chicken, or crispy potatoes.

Chipotle Mayo
Blend in a bit of chipotle pepper from a can of adobo sauce for a smoky, spicy spread that takes tacos and burgers to the next level.

Cajun Mayo
Season with a spoonful of Cajun spice mix for a bold Southern-style flavor. Try it on grilled meats, seafood, or even as a dip for sweet potato fries.

Sesame Soy Mayo
Stir in a splash of soy sauce and a few drops of toasted sesame oil. It adds nutty richness and umami that pairs well with rice bowls or lettuce wraps.

Does avocado oil mayo taste different from regular mayo?

A little! It’s usually lighter and cleaner-tasting, especially if you’re using a mild or refined avocado oil. It doesn’t have that heavy or greasy aftertaste that some store-bought mayos do—plus, you get a little bonus hint of buttery flavor from the avocado oil.

Is homemade avocado oil mayo healthier than store-bought?

Definitely! When you make it yourself, you skip the weird preservatives, added sugars, and sneaky seed oils that show up in a lot of store-bought versions. You’re in control of the ingredients, so it’s cleaner, fresher, and made with heart-healthy fats from real avocado oil. Plus, it actually tastes like real food—creamy, rich, and way less processed.

Serving Suggestions

Once you’ve made a batch of creamy homemade avocado oil mayonnaise, you’ll start reaching for it in all kinds of ways. Spread it on a juicy burger or a grilled chicken sandwich for that smooth, rich flavor. Stir it into tuna salad or egg salad for a lighter taste that doesn’t feel heavy or oily. It also makes the perfect base for homemade salad dressings. Just whisk it with lemon juice, Dijon, and fresh herbs for a quick creamy vinaigrette.

Need a dip in a hurry? Mix avocado oil mayo with garlic and lemon for a simple aioli. Add hot sauce, chipotle, or curry powder to turn it into a flavorful dip for fries, roasted vegetables, or sweet potato wedges. It works beautifully in coleslaw and potato salad too.
